My observations of the gardens and green spaces of Cairo are not only reflected in drawings, photography and videos. These photographs depict the gardens of the streets in Cairo. Observations and pictorial elements from the photographs influence the paintings, which devote a lot of space to light. The small-format images, which were presented alongside large-format drawings and photographs at the Safar Khan Gallery, combine ink and oil colours with a pale-yellow/ochre background. The large-format oil paintings from 2010 and 2012 employ different characteristic painting styles. (Text by Barbara Armbruster)
